Event Details
London-born Cornel Lucas is the only stills photographer to be awarded a BAFTA for his services to the British Film Industry. Check out some of these iconic shots from his extensive archives, and you'll see why. During the 1940s and 1950s, Lucas made a name for himself as England's leading movie star photographer, capturing the great and the good of the movie industry both sides of the pond. He thrived during the golden age of cinema, shooting famous names such as Marlene Dietrich, Brigitte Bardot, Diana Dors, Joan Collins and David Niven.
A new retrospective of his work – Photo Noir: The Art of Cornel Lucas – exhibits some of his best work and is free to view at the National Theatre’s Lyttelton exhibition space.
