Paul Boutros is the Head of Watches, Americas for Phillips – the leading auction house dedicated to collectors' watches. Based in New York City, he helped establish and build the watch department since its launch in 2014. His efforts contributed to multiple record-breaking results, positioning Phillips as the global market leader in watch auctions within two years. In October 2017, he led Phillips’ first New York watch auction, Winning Icons, where Paul Newman’s legendary Rolex Paul Newman Daytona sold for $17.8 million - the highest result ever for a wristwatch sold at auction.
A passionate collector of wristwatches for over three decades, Paul is a specialist in the authentication and valuation of collectible wristwatches, advising clients on obtaining enduring, investment-grade watches and collections. Frequently appearing on television programs sharing tips on vintage watch collecting, he has hosted talks for luxury brands and publications including Harvard Business Review and Barron’s, with presentations discussing the art of watch collecting.
Paul also serves as a strategy consultant to luxury brands through his firm, Boutros Group. He works collaboratively with executives, helping them grow their businesses through proven design processes and innovative marketing initiatives. Most recently, he led the development of an all-new timepiece collection for a well-known luxury brand.
Before pursuing his passion for watches, Paul held Engineering, Product Development, Program Management, and Marketing and Business Development positions at advanced technology firms. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers and received a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
