View map Add to calendarWho said the beach has no place in the smoky old City? Not Action for Kids, who have brought sunshine and sand to Canary Wharf's Montgomery Square with two pop-up beach volley ball courts as part of a three-week residency. Hosted by top sports personality Rob Walker, the main match will take place on 17 July and anyone can enter a mixed team of between 5 and 12 people. Don't worry if you and your colleagues don't look like you've just walked off Muscle Beach yourselves – you don't need any previous experience to get involved, the rules are easy-peasy (so we're told) and training is included.
If you're not up for a full-on championship, you'll still be able to have fun leaping around and punching balls into the air for three weeks by enjoying pay-to-play sessions. OR you can ogle in delight as some of Europe’s finest Volleyball players take to the court themselves, while you give yourself a different sort of workout as you swig tequila sunrises at the Container Bar.
The AFK Beach Volleyball Championships 2015 tournament is £300 per team to enter and each team will have a fundraising target of £2,500. To register, visit canarywharf.com
