TV show Spitting Image might be as dated as your mate's awful mullett, but it is still emblematic of a generation disillusioned with Thatcher, politics and politicians in general. With the General Election looming, what better time to celebrate those iconic, satirical, political puppets than with a new exhibition?
Acclaimed documentary photographer Anna Fox and artist Andrew Bruce were given access to gallerist and Spitting Image fan James Hyman's collection of puppets, bought after the series ended in 1996.
The pair's collection of photographs feature caricatures of famous politicians including Edward Heath, Michael Heseltine and Margaret Thatcher. In some of the shots, the puppets have been hung up with string, in others, they are piled up as though they were rubbish.
Sometimes funny, sometimes disturbing, the photographs depict politicians as vulnerable and despicable in equal measure.
We don't know about you, but we're suddenly much less excited about the election than we were before...
Spitting: Photographs by Andrew Bruce & Anna Fox takes place at the James Hyman Gallery from 22 April to 8 May
