As the London Design Festival kicked off in the capital last night, guests rocked up to Canary Wharf for Wallpaper* and EcoWorld Ballymore's unveiling of Wardian E14, a unique glasshouse installation located right next to the newly-built Wardian London luxury riverside development.
A star-studded crowd with names from fashion, design and architecture – including Jodie Kidd, Robert Angell, Tony Chambers and Will and Linzi Stoppard – descended on Ballymore’s Design Cube to explore the Wallpaper* Wardian Case, which was first used to transport botanical plants around the world, and from which Wardian London takes its name. Wallpaper*, in conjunction with landscape architects Camlins, were responsible for curating and styling this special glasshouse which will be open to the public throughout The London Design Festival.
Guests munched on Wardian-inspired canapés and cocktails, including decadent mushroom tartlets with truffle risotto and fresh girole mushrooms; sushi rice and salmon with pickled ginger, wasabi and big prawns; and parma ham rolled with pea, mint, feta and long chives. Those with a sweet tooth were spoiled with ‘The Ballymore Torte Tower’, a delicious chocolate truffle with a marshmallow and raspberry pâte de fruits. Drinks came in the form of oh-so-drinkable botanical cocktails, which were exclusively created by Bombay Sapphire for the event.
