In your dreams: Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo
After building and selling all 450 examples of the now iconic Veyron, Bugatti’s attention has turned to its next hypercar. Before you get too excited, this isn’t it – the Chiron won’t be ready until next year, but you didn’t think Bugatti would turn up to Frankfurt empty handed, did you? This is the Vision Gran Turismo – a stunning virtual creation that you’ll be able to drive on the PlayStation game. Or see in the flesh at the Motor Show. The Vision has been engineered for ultimate race-car performance, disregarding all the comfort and safety systems of a road-going car to make it lighter, tougher – and very fast. In the future: Porsche Mission E
It looks like Tesla will have some seriously good-looking competition on its hands if Porsche’s Mission E concept becomes reality. The Mission E can hit 62mph in under 3.5 seconds – all without even the faintest whiff of petrol – and the all-electric supercar can charge to 80% within 15 minutes. The nose of the Mission E leans close to the ground, while its matte white body is constructed from a slick mix of aluminium, steel and carbon fibre-reinforced polymer. The interior is equally dramatic: the rear seats are accessed via suicide doors, while the deep-dished steering wheel is a design feat. The downside? You’ll have to wait around three years to get your hands on one.

After 60 years of building luxury saloons and sports cars, Jaguar’s first-ever SUV has finally arrived. It’s a suave, sporty number, boasting a gaping grille that’s been carried over from other models in the range. Down the side there’s an inverted crease in the bodywork, while sleek rear lights complete the Jaguar look. About 80% of the car has been constructed from aluminium, making it the most aluminium-intensive crossover in the world. Plus it comes with five spacious seats and a giant boot, so it’s practical, too. But functional does not have to mean boring. Can your family car do this? ‘Nuf said…
