Camden has always done things its own way. Music, fashion, art, pubs – and all the colourful characters that inhabit them. (Not to mention their hats. Who knew there were so many hats in town?)
This corner of North London brims with a cultural clout that stretches well beyond the confines of NW5.
It’s fitting, then, that two brands born in the borough should join forces for a collaboration that takes both back to their roots. Camden Town Brewery and Wax London have unveiled One Borough, Two Originals, a limited-edition collection spanning clothing, accessories and, naturally, beer.
The headline piece is a new version of Wax London’s signature Whiting overshirt. Priced at £155, the dual-branded design takes one of the menswear label’s best-known silhouettes and gives it the Camden treatment.
It’s joined by a £35 cap and £60 tote bag – ideal attire, presumably, for the collection’s most immediately enjoyable component.
That would be London Lager, a limited-edition beer brewed specifically for the partnership. From 8 October, you’ll be able to sample it at Camden Town Brewery’s Beer Hall in Kentish Town – fittingly close to where both stories began.
There’s some logic behind the pairing beyond postcode proximity. Wax London was founded in 2015 with a focus on characterful menswear, distinctive fabrics and traditional craftsmanship without the stuffiness that can sometimes accompany it.
Camden Town Brewery has taken a similarly accessible approach to brewing, turning Camden Hells into one of the capital’s most recognisable lagers along the way.
Both have subsequently travelled considerably further than NW5, but this collaboration is very much a homecoming. The accompanying launch will include a series of events and surprises celebrating Camden’s people and culture.
The collection is available online through Wax London and Camden Town Brewery, with prices starting from £35. We’ll raise a pint to that.
