Chinos are a smart/casual wardrobe failsafe, but what you save in pennies by opting for a high street pair, you’ll often lose in time and sanity by trying on a thousand versions, none of which fit properly.
Ben Farren, founder of e-retailer SPOKE, was so put off by the poor choice of chinos on the high street that he decided to create his own perfect-fitting pair, engaging in intense bouts of research to make sure he got it just right.
SPOKE is all about helping you find the perfect fit, so it offers five times more sizes than your average label (or 150 in total, to be precise). The trousers are available in three builds – a trim 'Build A', a roomier 'Build C', and 'Build B', between the two. You then choose your waist, leg and thigh. You can even order a tape measure for free to make sure you’re picking out the right size.
SPOKE doesn’t scrimp on quality, either – the cotton is woven in Italy, the hardware is cast in Switzerland, and every single pair is cut and sewn in Europe. The colour palette moves from the sedate to the loud (brushed slate is our favourite from the former, while lava is our brazen pick from the latter).
Your price for a decent fit? £79. We’ll have one in every colour, thanks.
