With this in mind, 24-year old menswear designer Tom Cridland has come up with an ethical solution: a sweatshirt that's so hard on endurance, it'll last you 30 years. The 30-Year Sweatshirt (the clue is in the name, people) comes in a crewneck style that's classic enough to never look outdated, and the fabric is made from 80 per cent organic cotton and 20 per cent polyester, with a silicon treatment applied to the material to prevent shrinking. Cridland promises that you'll be able to send off your sweatshirt for free repairs, too, and he'll add cool patches to the elbows if they wear away, which'll also prevent you chucking it in the bin. The sweatshirt will cost you £55, so if it lasts you as long as it's supposed to, that's plenty of bang for your buck.
Cridland's menswear line, which also includes slim-fit chinos, already has an all-star following: he counts Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Stiller, and Daniel Craig as fans. He's turned to Kickstarter to get the project up and running, asking sustainable style fans to donate to his page and help him raise £50k. We say get donating and buy yourself a sweatshirt – fingers crossed you'll still be rocking it in 30 years time.
