The world's most beautiful tennis resorts
When it comes to mixing your down time and game time, there’s nothing like serving it up at one of the most beautiful resorts in the world

Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc
Côte d'Azur, France
Everything at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc is excellent quality, including its five outdoor clay courts – each provides the opportunity to play a match or two under the sunny skies of the Cote d’Azur while casting a stealthy eye over your neighbouring tennis enthusiasts to see if they’re famous or not (chances are they could be at this highly regarded spot). Afterwards, go for a dip in the hotel’s heated infinity pool that overlooks the Med, or retire to the glamorous al fresco Eden Roc Bar, or Bar Bellini (which does what it says on the tin).

Il San Pietro di Positano
Positano, Italy
This is the only hotel in Positano with direct access to a private beach, but better than that, if you’ve got a keen interest in playing competitive sports in desirable locations – and why wouldn’t you? – you’ll find one of the most idyllically located tennis courts in the world overlooking the sand. Situated in a private cove, the hard court is reserved for hotel guests only, and once you’ve finished your match, you can stroll directly to the water’s edge or pop back up to the hotel via a lift that’s carved into the cliff wall. It’s probably the most Bond-esque few sets you’ll ever play in your life.

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel
Hawaii, USA
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel has been named one of the top ten tennis resorts in the world, thanks to its 11 courts located right next to the ocean. The hotel’s Seaside Tennis Club is one of the largest and the most sought-after tennis experiences in Hawaii – and in addition to the spectacular setting, it offers tennis clinics, private tuition, and a pro shop where you can rent or buy equipment. It’s a great spot for perfecting your game (and blaming the view if you don’t quite make it to pro level).

Stoke Park
Buckinghamshire, England
It should be no surprise that the host venue of The Boodles also happens to be one of the best tennis resorts in the world – after all, it’s a Wimbledon warm-up event for good reason. The £20m health club includes some of the finest tennis facilities in the country. For starters, there’s the six Wimbledon-specification grass courts, as close as you can get to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. There’s also four floodlit artificial clay courts and three indoor carpet courts. Cherry on the top comes in the form of an excellent 27-hole championship golf course and a fine-dining restaurant worthy of this palatial setting.

During summer, you can take in Gstaad Palace’s pretty Alpine surroundings from one of its four outdoor courts. If it’s winter, there’s no need to abandon play – just use one of the three indoor courts that are available instead. The legendary hotel has been open since 1913 and is widely regarded as one of the most luxurious options in the area, so you can be secure in the knowledge that once your match is over, you’ll have all manner of first-rate facilities at your disposal, including a nightclub that’s above the swimming pool. Cool.

Singita Sabora Camp

We challenge you to focus on your serve while you’re surrounded by grazing zebras. Away from the court, you’ll be staying in one of nine luxury tent suites (step out of your room and straight onto the Serengeti Plains) and embarking upon daily game drives.
