When it was first announced that Jeff Goldblum would be playing Zeus in Kaos, the casting decision made perfect sense.
After all, the legendary star is a god of the acting world, and his charming charisma is a natural fit for the king of the gods.
Unfortunately, though, despite receiving good reviews, Charlie Covell’s series was cancelled after only one season.
This was upsetting for fans, who would love to see Goldblum reprise his role. Now, that may never happen.
One of the Best Versions of Zeus in Recent Memory
Zeus is one of the most iconic deities of all time, and most people know of him thanks to his regular representation across different media: along with films and television programmes, he has also been a key figure in games, such as the God of War series.

Kaos Didn’t Live Up to Netflix’s Standards
As it stands, there’s never going to be another outing for Goldblum’s Zeus, as Netflix cancelled Kaos after only one season.
According to a piece in Screen Rant, Covell’s series didn’t attract enough viewers. The streaming giant is ruthless with this metric, and makes its renewal decisions purely on numbers. It didn’t think that investing in a second season was viable, so immediately pulled the plug.
This news was heartbreaking for actors involved in the show, who turned to social media to express their disappointment. Fans were gutted as well, as the first season had hooked many people in and they were desperate to see the direction future instalments would go in.
New Odyssey Movie Could Spark a Demand for More Ancient Greek Content
One of the reasons why Kaos didn’t post great viewing figures could be that Greek mythology currently isn’t that prominent in the film and television space. That could soon change, though, as Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is set for release in 2026 according to Cineworld.
The retelling of the Greek epic from one of the world’s greatest directors could be a massive cultural event, and one that inspires other films and television series. At this point, it may be a good option for Netflix to renew Kaos to capitalise on the hype.
Unfortunately, as it stands, there’s a good chance that season one of Kaos was the last we’ll see of Goldblum’s Zeus. It would be great to see him again, however, and there may be more of a demand for Ancient Greek content next year.
