The Italian design team has collaborated with British wearables company Christophe & Co to produce a new collection of armills – essentially, very glitzy smart wristbands.
The armills take their name from a type of precious cuff bracelet that was once worn by royals and knights to signify their authority. Today, the company’s collection of three bracelets combines the tradition of English fine jewellery-making with cutting-edge engineering and technology.
Most wearables will track your fitness and count how many steps you’ve walked to the, er, pub. But this lavish cuff will guarantee you entry into the world’s top private members’ clubs and restaurants. Other VIP-style features include a button you can press to call your PA, and instant access to a 24-hour concierge service. It will sync to a smartphone via Bluetooth and its battery is boosted whenever the user moves, so you’ll only need to charge it once a year.
The 18-carat gold cuffs are available in three different editions, each more opulent than the last – there’s the white gold Virtus, the rose gold and diamond-encrusted Orion, and the Apollo, which is adorned with 1,500 hand-set pavé diamonds.
Each version can be engraved with a design or the owner’s choice and is presented in an intricately-crafted case – dubbed ‘the Vault’ – that’s a design feat in itself.
If you want one, be prepared for a Ferrari price tag: the Virtus starts at £60,000, while the Apollo is the most expensive at £120,000.
