Jeremy Hackett has been dressing men around the globe for decades with his brand’s signature style of tradition with a twist. Here he sums up his personal style but also gives pointers on the key pillars that every man should have in his wardrobe to stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons.
THE WATCH:
Although I own several watches, my favourite is a 1963 Rolex Explorer that I inherited a number of years ago. I like its black dial and well laid out numerals. Dare I say, it's timeless.
THE ACCESSORY:
A tie pin – it can completely change the direction of a suiting look. We have a great selection at Hackett with some featuring Sussex Spaniels, inspired by my dog Muffin.
THE CAR:
An Aston Martin – I’ve been saying to myself I’ll buy one for years now. One day…
THE SCENT:
For many years I have purchased my cologne and soap from DR Harris in St James’s. Its almond oil soap and Windsor cologne are favourites of mine – both subtle and refined.
THE HOUSE:
I'd love a classical Georgian country house in a pastoral setting down a long, tree-lined avenue and overlooking parkland. I wonder if I have delusions of grandeur?

THE COCKTAIL:
I think a location or an occasion can certainly enhance the experience of a drink, as they set memories for life. I visited the iconic Raffles Hotel in Singapore earlier this year and really enjoyed my favourite cocktail – a Singapore Sling with Beefeater Gin.
HACKETT ON WARDROBE STAPLES:
Most people expect me to have a huge wardrobe but in reality it is quite modest. My favourite items are a number of navy blue blazers, the beauty of which is that they can be dressed up or down. It’s the man’s version of the woman’s little black dress. A simple cotton blazer worn with shorts can take you elegantly from the beach to the restaurant.
ON CRAFTSMANSHIP:
I believe there has always been an appetite for beautiful materials and craftsmanship, but I think what has been surprising in recent years is that there has been increased demand during periods of economic downturn. Customers have adhered to only part with their cash to companies with a strong brand image that they trust and know. So luxury brands renowned for quality and great craftsmanship have flourished.
ON BRITISH STYLE:
In recent years the appetite for all things British has never been bigger. I believe this is because British clothing and fashion is renowned for its quality and classic style. When men think of British style they think of luxury and quality. Hackett’s range is a mixture of classic menswear with a modern twist, which I believe is the reason we are growing in popularity worldwide.
