What upcoming project(s) are you most excited about?

I’m most excited about Raised By Wolves. It’s out in the US and I’m very happy that we can share it with people! I had an amazing time working with an incredible cast and crew to tell this awesome story.

I also got to work with Ridley Scott, which is something I never dreamed would happen.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

I think one of my proudest professional accomplishments would be the short film I completed at the start of this year. It was the first project I’d ever produced myself; I also wrote and co-directed it.

The crew were brilliant and I got to work with a phenomenal cast of actresses. I learnt so much from that experience.

If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be?

I’m not sure I would change anything. Everything I’ve done or been through has lead me to where I am now; I wouldn’t want to mess with the process.

What do you hope to achieve that you haven’t yet?

I’d really like to do a project in French. I studied French and Spanish at university and I’ve always loved French cinema.

Outside of your family, who is / was your biggest inspiration?

That’s a tough one because I have so many; I’m just going to have to list a few!

I love Viola Davis, I’m transfixed by every performance she gives.

Thandie Newton and Sophie Okonedo are also big inspirations to me.

Kristin Scott-Thomas is another person I look to for the performances she’s given in both English and French.

Michaela Coel’s writing and acting is just incredible; she’s a major influence in me starting to write and develop my own ideas.

I definitely have to mention Amanda Mealing because it was watching her as Connie Beauchamp in Holby City that made me decide to write off and get an agent when I was 13.

Tell us something nobody knows about you…

I’m not 5’ tall; I’m actually 4’11”, which is apparently the same height as Judy Garland!

Style

What’s your favourite item of clothing – and what does it mean to you?

My favourite item of clothing is my mum’s wedding dress, which she gave to me a few years ago.

It’s a beautiful, silver knee-length dress. Whenever I wear it, no matter where in the world I am, I always feel close to her so it means a lot to me.

Favourite accessory – watch / jewellery / etc – and why is it special to you?

A gold crown charm that I wear on a necklace. A friend gave it to me as a present and to me, it’s a reminder of my inner queen.

What items do you take on holiday and why?

I always bring a book on holiday as I get a bit nervous when flying and it’s a good way for me to distract my mind.

I also pack my hair products as it took me a long while to find ones that I liked and that my hair agreed with; I always make sure I take more than enough so I don’t risk not being able to find them when I’m away.

Is there an item you threw away – or lost – that you really miss?

My sister went on a school trip to Greece and bought silver matching rings for both of us. About five years ago, I lost it; even now, I still hope it will turn up somewhere.

What’s next on your shopping list?

My best friend rollerblades and I follow a lot of roller skaters on Instagram, so I’ve been looking into getting a pair of retro-style roller skates. And a helmet and knee pads.

What would you buy if money was no object?

I think I would buy a place where my family and friends could go and we could all hang out together, eat good food and just relax.
