Glashütte Original is famed for its slick, complicated creations, like the Senator Chronometer or the Senator Chronograph – watches for those that take timekeeping seriously.

Its new Sixties Iconic Collection is a more playful– though nonetheless complicated – tribute to the unforgettable design of iconic timepieces from the 1960s, including the Spezimatic, one of the company’s most famed creations. Manufactured between 1964 and 1979 and made in a variety of elegant versions, the Spezimatics quickly became iconic, stylish timepieces in their own right.

The new line comprises five groovily colourful watches in the unmistakable style of its popular Sixties line. All five models feature the typical domed dials and lightly arched hour and minute hands, while the coloured dials feature a dégradé effect, achieved using an extremely complex process in Glashütte Original's own dial manufactory in Pforzheim. The beating heart of the new timepieces, as in the other models of the Sixties line, is the automatic Calibre 39-52, with a movement that comes with a power reserve of 40 hours.

Retro's suddenly starting to look very 2015…
