Henry Ashton has a busy summer coming up, with lead roles in My Lady Jane and A Good Girl's Guide to Murder.
However his proudest moment (for now) is his acceptance into drama school.
"I had been dreaming of going forever," says Ashton, "but I applied later on in life so there was quite a lot more at stake. I had quit my job, moved cities and threw absolutely everything into it."
The gamble most certainly paid off.
Life
What upcoming project(s) are you most excited about?
I'm really excited to see peoples reaction to My Lady Jane, it's such a fun show, and I can really see people really falling in love with it.
I'm also looking forward to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder coming out! We've got a lot to live up to, thanks to Holly Jackson's amazing books, but I think people will be very happy with the adaptation.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
Honestly, I think it's when I got accepted into drama school. That may change in the future, but at the moment, that's still the proudest I've ever been.
I had been dreaming of going forever, but I applied later on in life so there was quite a lot more at stake. I had quit my job, moved cities and threw absolutely everything into it. And I'm still so proud of that achievement to this day.
If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be?
Nothing. Obviously there have been moments of heartbreak, jobs which I wished with all my heart that I had booked.
But each one of those moments open up other opportunities and jobs that would never have come to be without that initial disappointment. So I honestly wouldn't change a thing, because how do I know I'm making anything better.
What do you hope to achieve that you haven’t yet?
There are projects I'd love to work on and people I'd love to work with. Those are the achievements I'm interested in, and hopefully they will come in time, as long as I keep working hard and enjoying the process.
Outside of your family, who is / was your biggest inspiration?
It might be a boring answer, but it's definitely my closest friends. I think it's so important who you surround yourself with and I'm very lucky to be surrounded by people who have such a positive and healthy work ethic.
We all are in completely different industries, and none of us would last a second in each others jobs! But, they inspire me everyday to be as good as I can be and I would not doing what I love today without them.
Tell us something nobody knows about you…
I sleep talk... and walk... a lot.
Style
What’s your favourite item of clothing – and what does it mean to you?
At the moment, it's probably my Dr Martens. I've only had them about three months, and now they've stopped murdering my feet, I absolutely love them.
Favourite accessory – watch / jewellery / etc – and why is it special to you?
I've got a pinky ring from Frederick Grove that I love. It was a big step for me to be a 'pinky ring guy', but I'm fully committed and haven't looked back since.
What items do you take on holiday and why?
I recently discovered the pure joy of portable steamers. No more dodgy hotel irons for me.
Is there an item you threw away – or lost – that you really miss?
I had the warmest brown suede jacket, covered in patches from all the times I had it repaired. It was stolen from a bar in Amsterdam a few years ago... that still hurts.
What’s next on your shopping list?
Some new blue jeans.
What would you buy if money was no object?
A vintage watch, maybe a Rolex or Omega from the 60s or 70s. I love the clean face and classic look of those watches.
