American actor and singer Rotimi has been tearing it up for some years now.

He got his break as drug dealer Darius Morrison on Starz drama Boss before winning acclaim as another drug dealer Andre Coleman in the hugely popular Power. (Those are some cool show titles as well.)

Yet Rotimi is also a successful musician and entrepreneur, recently launching his brand new skincare brand FAVR

We spoke to the multi-faceted talent about his life and style.

Life

What upcoming project(s) are you most excited about?

I’m excited for my next project because I can honestly say I’m creating music that hasn’t been done before.

It’s a fusion of all genres that represents me as a person and where I am in my life. So I’m super excited to push the bar and for people to see a new level.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

My proudest professional accomplishment is definitely having the two gold plaques for “Love Riddim” and “In My Bed”.

Validation to show that the music is being received around the world is a beautiful feeling.

If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be?

I wouldn’t change anything from my past or in my career. it’s happened for a reason, and we’re in the present.

What do you hope to achieve that you haven’t yet?

Too many things on my list, but you will see a lot of them getting checked off this year.

Outside of your family, who is / was your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration was Bob Marley, he still is today. What he represented in his music was love, politics, innovation, charisma, and stage presence. He embodies everything that a true artist and good human was.

Tell us something nobody knows about you…

I played the violin for three years and competed in recitals.

Style

What’s your favourite item of clothing – and what does it mean to you?

To me, there’s nothing like a fresh pair of really good fitting sweats. Anyone you ask knows my simplicity, but when I do have to step out, I step out.

Favourite accessory – watch / jewellery / etc – and why is it special to you?

My bracelets are my favourites. I never really treat myself to things, so spending some nice money on some cool bracelets was nice for me.

What items do you take on holiday and why?

Nothing. Holiday is the time to just relax and unplug from the world, I barely bring clothes.

Is there an item you threw away – or lost – that you really miss?

I wish I had some of my high school pictures. Or footage of my basketball games in high school.

What’s next on your shopping list?

Another investment property.

What would you buy if money was no object?

I would pay college tuition for any city kid around the world, put unlimited money towards all the cures for deadly diseases that kill people, and set my family up for generations and generations.
