Life is looking good for South London musician Samm Henshaw.
In January, Henshaw released his debut album Untidy Soul – a mix of jazz, soul, hip hop, and blues – and also performed on The Late Late show with James Corden. Not a bad month's work.
Next up? An appearance at The Hundred Eliminator on 2 September.
He talks us through his life and style.
Life
What upcoming project(s) are you most excited about?
I’m working on the deluxe edition of my album which will be out soon, looking forward to people hearing the new songs.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
Gonna sound like a bit of a cop out but honestly pretty proud of it as a whole. Like I’m just thankful that I get to do this for a living as life could have been very different from this.
If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be?
Nothing, I’m aware that I’m in a position someone else probably wants to be in, so I’m just grateful to have this opportunity and be able to constantly keep going with it.
What do you hope to achieve that you haven’t yet?
Oooh I’d love to direct something one day! I mean I know I will for sure but yeah that’s something that’s quite interesting to me.
Outside of your family, who is / was your biggest inspiration?
Probably got to be my friends they’re just so hardworking, so intentional about what they do and just genuinely great people.
Love them to bits and just constantly inspired by them.

Style
What’s your favourite item of clothing – and what does it mean to you?
At the moment it’s my hat. It’s currently protecting you from seeing the mess that is my shape up.
Favourite accessory – watch / jewellery / etc – and why is it special to you?
Probably my pinky ring, I bought one for my friend a while back so we just both have that same ring which I love.
What items do you take on holiday and why?
My camera, I think it’s so important to capture beautiful and special moments.
Is there an item you threw away – or lost – that you really miss?
I lost a ring that I bought from Melrose in LA, it had a skull on it and I really liked it. Not even sure where I lost it, I just know I don’t have it no more which sucks.
What’s next on your shopping list?
A sofa for my place, need a new one.
What would you buy if money was no object?
I would probably buy a trainer factory. I love trainers and I buy loads of them so I’d love to make my own designs whenever I wanted.
