The K Bar at The Kensington Hotel is serving up something very special on 27 November. Those in the know can enjoy an incredibly rare and exclusive bourbon tasting, learning all about the legendary Pappy Van Winkle.

The bourbon is produced by Buffalo Trace, the distillery that has won more awards than any other on the planet. Described as ‘more of a folk tale than a whiskey’ for its rarity, Pappy Van Winkle is difficult to source owing to its very low production and very high demand. Guests at The K Bar will sample five 25ml pours of different expressions to discover the fairytale for themselves.

Begin your evening with an expertly crafted Eagle Rare Old Fashioned. Then prepare to journey through the finest expressions of Pappy Van Winkle’s craftsmanship, starting with 25ml tastings of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year; Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year; and Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year.

What’s next? That would be Pappy Van Winkle 20: crowned the world’s best bourbon, scoring an astounding 99 out of 100 at the World Spirits Championship. You’ll close the show with Pappy Van Winkle 23, a rare treat usually priced at £135 per pour at The K Bar. Each bourbon will be paired with a small bite to enhance every sip.

The K Bar will also be offering three limited-edition Buffalo Trace cocktails for the month of November, all priced at £17. Noyaux is the perfect autumn tipple, with Buffalo Trace bourbon, chestnuts and bitters; Louisville will transport you to the Deep South with Eagle Rare 10 Year Old Bourbon, bacon, maple and bitters; and Fortunella is made up of a Sazerac Rye, Camparo, Mancino Chinato and kumquat. Compare and contrast.

Nestled within The Kensington Hotel, The K Bar is an elegant cocktail bar for clandestine conversations, languid libations, and ‘just-one-more’ nightcaps. With art-deco chandeliers, wood-panelled walls, tiny library, sumptuous buttoned leather, polished brass and deep velvet seating, the bar is one of the most sophisticated in the capital.

As in all the best bars, magic is conjured as much by people as by place. The team of bartenders, led by mixology maestro Adrian Gonzalez Parrondo serve up exceptional creations both on and off menu. We suggest you go bespoke.
This is a place where classic and creative cocktails mix with premium spirits and exceptional service reminiscent of an exclusive members’ club – open to all who are in the know.
