National Pizza Day is almost upon us...
All around the capital, restaurants are cooking up special pizzas to commemorate the Day of the Dough.
We've selected six of our favourites, from Ghanaian-inspired pizzas at 400 Rabbits to a pizza cocktail from Bunga Bunga.
And if you really want to celebrate, join our cousins Foodism on Thursday 8 February for UK’s biggest pizza party at Hawker House.
In association with Street Feast, this huge event will welcome more than 1,000 pizza lovers to enjoy from the finest pizzerias and street food traders.
It runs from 4pm to midnight – we recommend you purchase a ticket while you still can.
National Pizza Day
400 Rabbits
400 Rabbits and Zoe's Ghana Kitchen have teamed up to create two Ghanaian pizzas running the whole of February.
Meat: Jollof nine-spice ground lamb, spicy peanut sauce, cassava, spring onions, tomatoes and mozzarella.
Vegetarian: Ghanaian chilli, garlic-marinated baby aubergines, shito mayonnaise, yellow peppers, rocket, tomatoes and goat's cheese.
Yard Sale Pizza
Yard Sale Pizza are collaborating with street food heroes Biff's Jack Shack to offer a crispy jackfruit vegan pizza, which will be available from 15 January-11 February. Toppings include Biff’s Crispy Fried Jackfruit, Buffalo Sauce, Blue Cheese Sauce, Fresh ‘Slaw, Coriander, and a Yoghurt Dressing.
Nonna's Gelato
Nonna’s Gelato has created a ‘Margarita Gelato Pizza Cake’ – made of brioche dough base and crust. The pizza cake is topped with basil-infused Fior di Latte gelato with a sweet tomato coulis ripple and garnished with candied basil leaves. leaves. The cake will be available at the Hawker House event on 8 February, at all three Yard Sale sites on National Pizza Day, as well as in 125ml tub-form for takeaway.
Bunga Bunga
Bunga Bunga are launching a pizza cocktail which will run across the weekend. It will be a mixture of Italian Dry Gin, Aperol, cherry tomatoes and basil syrup, topped with a Burrata and Peroni beer foam.
Prezzo
National pizza chain Prezzo will introduce of two brand new charcoal-based pizza specials - one spicy meat and one vegetarian, both launching on National Pizza Day and available at all 265 Prezzo sites across the UK.
Pizza Pilgrims
Pizza Pilgrims are working with Temper's Neil Rankin to reinvent the Hawaiian pizza. Expect pineapple, only pimped.
