Fire, ice and everything nice: three key ingredients for The Alchemist, no matter which of its 15 bars you find yourself in. Though it could well be argued that these components have never been more important than they are now – for the cocktail chain's new Canary Wharf residence.

It's never an easy feat for bars as big as this to open new locations: expectations are high and more often than not customers are left disappointed.

Not today (or indeed any other day at The Alchemist). To celebrate its new opening, the spirit-mixing hotspot has planned a near week-long hoo har of immersive happenings.

Beginning Friday 29 November, a different Theatre Served production will take over the bar for five nights – serving up much, much more than your standard smoking cocktail.

On the cards is entertainment from the likes of former Cirque du Soleil performer Lee Thompson, as well as food to choose from the bar's renowned grazing and full-on menus.

With no entry fee, guests can take their seats as early as takes their fancy and enjoy a whole host of dramatic performances over The Alchemist’s Christmassy cocktails. The extensive list of which includes the Alpine Spritz: a mix of Chase Mulberry & Sloe Gin, port and tonic, topped off with a torched stick of rosemary, and The Trifle: a mix of Martini Fiero, vermouth, red wine, strawberry, white chocolate foam served with a cherry on top.
