If you're a fan of supercars, the chances are superyachts will float your boat, too. (Sorry – that one was too easy.)

The new 37m Aurelia from Heesen is a heady fusion of both. It's a whopping great superyacht with supreme sports car heritage.

First is its Gulf Oil Racing colour scheme – made iconic from the motorsport liveries of the 1960s and 1970s – not least Steve McQueen's Gulf Porsche 917 in the movie Le Mans. The Aurelia’s car credentials aren't just skin deep, though.

Inside there are Linley Aston Martin chairs as well as themed cabins inspired by Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin.

It's no slouch in the water, either – capable of achieving a top speed of 30 knots. It has an extensive list of water sports toys plus a nine-metre Pascoe International tender decorated in the same Gulf Oil Racing colour scheme as the yacht.

The tender is a serious piece of kit in its own right thanks to its 390hp twin turbo Yanmar V8 engine and a hull inspired by off-shore racers.
