The most luxurious Amalfi Coast hotels
If you've opted to discover the dramatic, sun-splattered coastline of the famed Amalfi Coast for your next hol, we say go all out and embrace its beauty and glamour while staying at some of the region's most idyllic hotels. Rude not to, right?

For design-lovers: Casa Angelina
For design-lovers: Casa Angelina
Tucked away from the tourist trail, Casa Angelina is majestically perched up in the lemon-scented hills of sleepy Praiano. Inside, the boutique hotel is a shrine to Mediterranean modern minimalism: think cool, clean lines and lots and LOTS of white, while imposing Murano glass sculptures add sapphire-hued dots of colour. You're on holiday, so opt for a romantic room, with private balconies and stunning sea views. If you make it out of the bedroom in time for breakfast, eat it on the rooftop sun terrace: the sea views are epic, as is the buffet – sweeten your coffee with local almond milk and dig into homemade pastries, cured meats, and generous chunks of olive-oil soaked tuna.
Romantic rooms start from £328 in low season. For more info, visit casangelina.com

For fine diners: Palazzo Avino
The cobbled streets, flower-filled gardens and rolling hillside views from Ravello make this town look like it's stepped off a movie set. Equally A-list in style is Palazzo Avino, a 12th century former villa crammed full of statement furniture and geometric marble floor tiles, with terraced gardens, an outdoor gym, spa, pool and killer coastal views to keep you happy. Spend a day lounging at the nearby beach club, then return to the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant, Rossellinis, for a dinner so good, it made us slightly teary (although that might have been the aperol). For all-out glamour, choose the Infinito suite, and spend the evening on your own private terrace guzzling prosecco and watching as a carpet of stars wink at you from your jacuzzi. Mamma mia.
Infinito suite starts from £986 in low season. For more info, visit palazzoavino.com

For poolside loungers: Monastero Santa Rosa
High up in the cliffs, overlooking Amalfi and the bay of Salerno you'll find the imposing pink arches of Monastero Santa Rosa, a boutique hotel that's totally devoted to your R&R. The 20 rooms of this converted monastery each boasts traditional features, such as mahogany church pew benches (sounds creepy – it isn't) and bath salts from Santa Maria Novella. Aside from the tiered gardens, the emerald-hued infinity pool is the star of this show: fashioned from sand and rock, it looks out onto a serious expanse of blue that'll have you in an Instagram-snapping frenzy. When the sun gets too scorchio, seek shelter in the tranquil refuge of the cavernous spa, set within the ancient walls of the nuns' former wine cellar (naughty nuns).
Rooms start from £280 in low season. For more info, visit monasterosantarosa.com

For old-school glamour-lovers: Santa Caterina
If you’re after traditional Italian glamour, family-run Santa Caterina has it in droves, and the Hollywood jet-set agree: the hotel has welcomed the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and Brangelina over the years. Owned and managed by the Gambardella family since 1904, the hotel exudes familial warmth and Italian charm. Family antiques dot the marble floored interiors, while impeccably-dressed staff respectfully address you by name and offer top-notch service. A lift carved into the rock takes you down to the private beach club, where couples draped in Prada lunch on club sandwiches and lounge in the sea-salt swimming pool in their shades. The rooms are wonderfully grandiose: our deluxe garden suite looked out onto a verdant garden, while the palatial en-suite bathroom boasted a vast Jacuzzi and an array of Bulgari products. In the evenings, fine dine on perfectly-cooked seafood as you sit on the stunning vine-draped terrace, before walking off your gelato with a passeggiata around the hotel’s enchanting, winding gardens. If you’re keen to explore Amalfi’s tourist-teeming streets, they’re a mere 10-minute drive away. Or you could just make like a local and another Amaretto at the hotel bar...
Rooms start from £230 per room per night in low season, including breakfast. For more info, visit hotelsantacaterina.it
