Form and substance

Experience tells us that designer/manufacturer collaborations tend to go either very well, or not very well at all.

The trick is to find a balance, and when you get it right – as with Roland Mouret's upcoming collaboration with Banana Republic – the results can be extraordinary. The designer has created an extensive line of limited edition pieces for the women's collection, bringing his A-list sensibility to a more affordable range for the first time in his career.

The cornerstone of the collection is the Banana Republic Sloan fabric – a lightweight and stretchy fibre that flatters the form. Throughout the collection, the priority is clear: to snugly fit the contours of the body and to look effortlessly contemporary while doing it. We'd say it passes both tests with flying colours. Or stylish monochrome, as the case may be.

The Roland Mouret for Banana Republic Collection is available at Banana Republic Canary Wharf and all other London stores from 7 August. Visit bananarepublic.co.uk for more information.
