ATOWAK, the avant-garde watchmaker, has introduced its boldest creation yet: the MANTA-X. Drawing inspiration from biomimicry – and powered by three world-first innovations – this timepiece redefines the frontiers of mechanical horology.
Inspired by the manta ray’s fluid grace and the ocean’s mysteries, the MANTA-X’s biomimetic case echoes the ray’s motion, while the sweeping hands mirror the ocean’s rhythmic pulse. Designed to balance power and serenity, it captures ATOWAK’s vision: marine elegance fused with cutting-edge craftsmanship.
Three world-first innovations
At its core lies the 180° Hexa-Prism 3D Wandering Hour System – a mechanical marvel that reimagines time display. Unlike traditional star wheels, this six-sided rotating mechanism completes a smooth 60° shift each hour, delivering a dynamic, seamless reading punctuated by a rapid 0.3-second flip.
Next is the Involute Gear System, replacing the conventional Maltese Cross. This revolutionary, single-tooth engagement enables precisely calibrated hour shifts, offering both functional finesse and a nod to nature’s effortless flow.
Completing the triad is the Tidal Gravitas Minute Wheel, where 13 intricately linked minute discs move with ultra-tight tolerances (0.003mm). Each flip cascades like a manta ray’s glide, creating a hypnotic mechanical ballet.

Precision in every element
The MANTA-X integrates a composite fibre mortise and tenon structure – building on ATOWAK’s COBRA legacy. A single aluminium shaft anchors both the hour wheel and swing arm, while composite materials provide elasticity, resist deformation, and simplify installation.
The minute wheel actuation system channels the precision of a mechanical odometer. Drive pins on a central disc sequentially flip 13 outer wheels, with dual wheels changing every five minutes for exact readability. Each is stabilised by dedicated bridges, ensuring flawless alignment and reduced load.
A track support structure underpins the complex hour module, which contains more than 50 custom-engineered parts. Twin pillars and a precision dial reduce movement friction and maintain consistent performance.

Swiss engineering, elevated
At its heart beats an upgraded Sellita SW200 movement, enhanced with ATOWAK’s proprietary carbon-fibre hour module and 26 ruby bearings – ensuring COSC-level precision. Carbon shock-absorbing arms emulate aquatic flow while adding structural finesse.
Crafted for depth and drama
Forged from Grade 5 titanium and shaped through 135 machining stages, the case is as strong as it is light. A double-domed sapphire crystal frames the hexa-prism display, while the 2.5mm sapphire case back reveals its rhythmic core.
Super-LumiNova coatings bring the MANTA-X to life in darkness, mimicking bioluminescent sea creatures. Available in Tidal Blue and Violet Purple, and paired with a Nylon-Leather Hybrid Strap, it balances luxury and wearability with the allure of the abyss.
