As if it weren’t busy enough making cars and motorcycles and shooting award-winning TV advertisements, engineering giant Honda has decided to try its hand at aviation. And you know what? It hasn’t done a bad job. The HondaJet (£2.8m) combines a design-led approach with state-of-the-art aeronautics technology to offer an ‘entry-level’ business jet. It’s faster, quieter and more fuel-efficient than any other jet in its class, and doesn’t scrimp on comfort. The interior is also iThings compatible, so you can control anything from lighting to window shades using an app on your phone.

The HondaJet flies higher than anything else in its class. It has a maximum cruise altitude of 43,000ft, enabling you to look down on other, lesser jets. As well as offering unrivalled fuel-efficiency, Honda has managed to significantly reduce noise emission with its innovative Over-the-Wing Engine Mount.

Boasting a 40ft wingspan, the jet offers a take-off distance of less than 4,000ft and a landing distance of less than 3,000ft which means it can land at even the smallest

Clever stuff – certainly beats a Honda Jazz, anyway.
