Jamie Chadwick had one hell of a 2019, claiming the inaugural W Series championship against of the finest female racing drivers in the world.

With any luck, the 21-year-old will defend her crown later in the year as sport returns to our screens.

More pressingly, on Monday 4 May Chadwick will aim to cycle 100 miles for charity: you can check out the link below and check in with Chadwick herself on Zwift.

Pedal to the metal, Jamie! (Wait, wrong vehicle...)

Life

What upcoming project(s) are you most excited about?

Obviously from a racing point of view W Series will be back later this year and I cant wait to try and retain my title! Outside of racing I have been helping develop a car with Roden cars which is also incredibly exciting!

In the short term I have been doing a few charity challenges – the first was a half marathon with a load of other drivers and now I am aiming to ride 100 miles indoors for Hope For Tomorrow – a cracking charity I have supported for a long time now.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

Proudest moment has to be winning the W Series last year. I have been lucky in that I have had a few breakthrough moments in my career so far to date but the one that has had the biggest impact on my career has to be the W Series.

If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be?

I think I would have got into racing earlier – I started when I was 12 and most drivers start at eight. But honestly - I wouldn’t change too much. It has been different in the way I have approached it but, in my opinion, has made me a more versatile driver as consequence.

What do you hope to achieve that you haven’t yet?

I would love to race in F1. It is the ultimate goal but still a little way to go!

Outside of your family, who is / was your biggest inspiration?

Sorry to be boring but there is not one individual I can think of - it is more in any given race a particular performance may inspire me.

Tell us something nobody knows about you…

Although I am an athlete I am a massive massive foodie. Just love it. This lockdown has given me the time to become a better chef!

Lockdown

How are you finding lockdown?

I am adapting to it. It is a very different and difficult situation for us all.

When I am racing I am travelling the whole time so this is probably the first time I have been at home for more than three nights in a row in about six months!

It's definitely unusual but taking the positives where I can.

Best thing about lockdown?

Having time to do stuff that I would never have the time to do. For me it's having time to train, to cook and have a routine every day.

Worst thing about lockdown?

I hate that I can't race. Obviously. I love driving and I am missing it enormously. But hopefully we can all get through this and I can get out there again soon.

Top tip for surviving lockdown?

Have a routine. Treat Monday to Friday as a working week and try and enjoy the weekends!! Most of the time I don’t know what day it is haha.

If you could be locked down with one person, alive or dead, who would it be?

A chef!! Obviously haha. Lets go with Gordon Ramsey!

What are you most looking forward to doing once lockdown is over?

First and foremost, getting back in a racing car. But a close second, meeting up with friends at a pub for a roast on a Sunday. I really miss that.
