Not when Ian Callum's involved, though – the Jaguar Cars design director may be more used to pushing the boundaries of contemporary car design, but this year he has been let loose on the archives. Working with leading restorers Classic Motor Cars (CMC), Callum has created a reimagined version of the iconic 1962 Mark II for the modern era. And, for the cynics, you can relax – it's a beautiful beast.

It's been kitted out with a modified 4.3-litre XK engine, five-speed manual gearbox, unique independent rear suspension and upgraded front brakes. It also sits 30mm lower and the bumpers are now part of the overall form. Callum defines it as "a very personal statement", but fortunately it's not so personal that you can't buy one as well – CMC will be producing a limited edition run of cars for the public. So you can all stop shouting now.
