Established in 1987, Roseberys London has become a leading destination for buyers seeking jewellery, watches and luxury items at auction in London.

With regular specialist sales and public viewings held in central London and at its South London saleroom, collectors can examine pieces up close and, importantly for jewellery and watches, try them on before bidding.

Roseberys has recently strengthened its expertise with the appointment of Luxury Items specialist Sally He, expanding the auction house’s offering across designer fashion and collectable luxury.

Ahead of the upcoming Jewellery auction on Wednesday 18 March and Watches & Luxury Items sale on Thursday 19 March, Roseberys specialists highlight standout lots.

A Venetian Noble Family’s Natural Pearl Necklace

A Venetian Noble Family’s Natural Pearl Necklace

Among the highlights of the Jewellery auction is a rare surviving 19th-century natural saltwater pearl necklace descended from the Mocenigo Soranzo family of Venice, estimated at £10,000-£15,000. The Mocenigo Soranzo were part of the historic patrician elite of the Republic of Venice, producing several prominent figures in Venetian political and cultural life.

Jewellery specialist Catrin Jones explains its appeal: “Natural pearls of this quality and scale are exceptionally scarce today, particularly when they appear with such compelling provenance.”

Bold 1980s Italian High Jewellery

Jones also highlights a striking Italian multi-gem necklace dating from around 1980, estimated at £20,000-£30,000. The dramatic design centres on an approximately 45 carat yellow sapphire framed by rubies, with additional diamond, ruby, emerald and sapphire accents.

“Highly graphic and wearable, this confection exudes 1980s Italian glamour,” Jones says. “The scale of the central sapphire and the confident use of colour make it a standout for collectors of late twentieth-century high jewellery.”

A Sculptural 1970 Bueche-Girod Watch

Collectors of vintage watches will find particular interest in a rare Bueche-Girod manual wind watch from around 1970 with a bracelet designed by George Weil, estimated at £6,000-£8,000. The watch features a textured silver dial and a distinctive hammered gold case and bracelet.

Watch specialist Kate Lacey notes: “George Weil studied at St Martin’s School of Art and became known for his industrial abstract style jewellery. This collaboration with Bueche-Girod reflects that sculptural sensibility, combining Swiss watchmaking with a bold design language.”

A Rare 1967 Paco Rabanne Armour Dress

An unusual highlight of the Watches & Luxury Items sale is an ultra-rare Paco Rabanne armour dress from 1967, estimated at £10,000-£20,000. Constructed from linked metal elements rather than fabric, Rabanne’s armour dresses challenged traditional dressmaking and became defining symbols of the space-age aesthetic.

The dress was formerly owned by Hélène Rochas, widow of the couturier Marcel Rochas.

Sally He explains: “This dress represents a pivotal moment in fashion history. Rabanne’s armour dresses rarely come to the market, and it’s rarer still to find one with such a tangible link to his own development as a designer through the Rochas connection.”
