Enjoy unique New York experiences at The Chatwal
Luxury Manhattan hotel The Chatwal has partnered with personalised travel service LOCALIKE New York for a series of itineraries inspired by the hotel's crown suites
Staying at The Chatwal has always been a heady experience. Situated in the heart of the Theater District, two-minutes walk from Times Square, this beautiful hotel has been hosting visitors for more than 100 years.
Now The Chatwal has partnered with personalised travel service LOCALIKE New York to create a series of unique itineraries inspired by the hotel’s crown suites – available exclusively to guests staying in one of the suites in question.
Have a look at what's on offer below.
You needn’t travel to Central Park for a bit of horticulture. The Garden Suite features a large terrace, complete with a fountain sculpture and a collection of fragrant herbs. Guests can tour the world’s largest green roof farm, Brooklyn Grange, with the farm’s founder and experience one of the city’s best sustainable initiatives. There is also the opportunity for a private Make Your Own Skincare workshop with wellness expert and founder of NY’s Anarchy in a Jar, Laena McCarthy. It’s good to be green.
The Hollywood Suite celebrates the glamour of movies in both its decor and the activities on offer. Combine a customised city tour with a private photoshoot against the iconic New York skyline. Journey with a photographer through Midtown New York from the Rockefeller Centre down to 1st Avenue or begin Downtown and swing by Brooklyn Bridge via Soho. Bring a pen in case you need to sign any autographs.
A celebration of the Chatwal itself, the one-bedroom Heritage Suite brings together carefully chosen artefacts, documents and art to honour of the hotel’s unique Art Deco heritage. Then take a private tour of New York landmarks, starting with the historical significance of the hotel’s own Lamb’s Club. An art historian will explain the history of the Theater District, and the Art Deco design principles of buildings such as The Chrysler Building and Radio City Music Hall.
See Manhattan from a new perspective with sailing operator Tribeca Sailing. Cruise along the three historic waterways: The Hudson, East and Harlem Rivers. Guests will be provided with a lunch of local cuisine sourced from producers across NYC. Even a landlubber should enjoy this one.
Lovers of literature staying in the Library Suite can enjoy a handpicked collection of leather-bound tomes in the suite’s own private library. You can also visit The Morgan Library & Museum, former private library of J.P. Morgan. Chatwal guests receive an exclusive private tour, unavailable to the general public, focusing on the highlights of the permanent collection. Do your trip by the book.
The Sanctuary Suite pieces together elements of nature reserves with a garden terrace and marble statues of exotic creatures. It gets better: enjoy a luxury picnic in Central Park’s Cherry Hill or Sheep’s Meadow. The picnic will include a set up and clean up service, charcuterie platter with local cheese and the finest Italian meats, fresh bread baked by Balthazar Bakery, mini dessert tray and bottle of Prosecco. Cheers!
