If ever the phrase "too much of a good thing" required a direct example, you could do a lot worse than phone apps.
(Netflix shows, Christmas chocolate and stag parties also fall into this category.)
Supposedly created to make our lives easier, apps have multiplied to the point it can feel impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff (or the Google from the Bing, to use a more technophilic comparison).
If you downloaded even a fraction of the many, many apps that apparently you can't cope without, your phone's performance would go from Aston Martin to Robin Reliant the day after purchase.
Now we can't live your life for you: but we can suggest five apps that should make that life easier, faster, and generally more baller.
And strangely enough, that's exactly what we've done.
Enjoy!
Five apps to make your life more baller

Velocity Black
Do you remember that A-lister you bumped into at an awards afterparty and whisked around the dance floor? Sure, yeah, happens all the time. Suspend your disbelief for a moment and enter the world of Velocity Black, the digital members’ club that powers the lives of some pretty exceptional people, from C-suite execs and tech brainiacs, to politicians and global party animals. Once in the app, you get access to a 24/7 “supercharged” PA, sorting out your dining, luxury, travel and experience requirements. For members who want to fraternise, it’s a one-click book into a Velocity Black private suite at a sold out concert or a Chatham House Rules dinner party. Velocity Black

Marchay
There’s nothing worse than blowing a small fortune on a luxury family holiday only to find the new 5* hotel you booked is still under construction. Enter US-based Marchay, the luxury travel club and community who offer unbiased advice about your trip, book the best villas and curate the whole experience for you. You only need to land on their homepage to witness how serene and sun-kissed you could be as a member. Admission comes after a 20-minute screening call and their punchy annual fee is $4500. Marchay

Raya
When your so-hot-that-ain’t-right friend tells you they’re dating someone famous in LA you know they probably met on Raya. Raya is an impossibly hard to get into social network for networking, dating and making new friends. Getting through the gatekeepers involves submitting your Instagram profile for committee scrutiny, then waiting with bated breath for admission. City folk beware, if you’re not on social media, good luck. Surprisingly, membership is a steal at $7.99 a month. Raya

House Seven
If you don’t know, now you know. Soho House members have an app. It was good before, it’s even better now, having presumably let some UX mega geek have at it. Features to make us envious include a new noticeboard for members to make the most of that desirable little black book, a “My Planner” to organise social commitments while in the houses, and a better way to book their private screenings. Nightkey
This private app is for the sociable, creative, effortlessly cool and often hungry Londoner. Members get 25%-50% off at over 100 vetted restaurants and bars, including Hakkasan, Hix and W Hotel. NightKey Premium members are also granted complimentary access to members’ clubs, private events and unique experiences. Dining membership is free and premium membership is £9.99. Nightkey
