Street art duo Snik create magnificent works with extreme depth of colour, painstakingly cutting out stencils and layering them on top of each other as they go – a process that can take weeks or even months.
Blurring intricately drawn lines between street and fine art, Snik have been painting graffiti-laden city walls with evocative female figures for nearly 12 years. They were the first street artists to win the Threadneedle Prize – high praise indeed for an unconventional art form – and they paint on canvas too. It certainly freshens up overzealous tagging by 15 year olds.
