On her career
When I was around 12, I was a top-ranked junior ski racer. But then I switched over to tennis because I was like, ‘I don’t like freezing my butt off at six in the morning,’ you know? I became a professional player [ranked number six in the US], but when I was 18, I hurt my back. So I started writing music. The next thing you know, I had my songs played on the radio. As an athlete, life was all about the end result, about wanting to win. Now I’m creating art, there really isn’t a definitive result in the same way – it’s just learning and growing and trying to be the best you can.
On her favourite roles
The Jessica Jones role that I was playing, Pam, was one of my favourites. I really like the role that I’m currently playing on Chicago Med. Any character where you really get to explore their humanity is fulfilling.
On her dream role
There is this book – A House in the Sky by Amanda Lindhout and Sara Corbett: I was reading it and thought, ‘I’d love to act in this if they adapt it into a movie’. Well, it turns out Anne Hathaway is in talks to make it.
On social media
People on Twitter can get a little naughty with words, but for the most part I feel like that my fans are very respectful.
On the best actor to work with
Carrie-Anne Moss – she stands out in my mind in the way in which she lives her life. She’s this amazing movie-star actress and then, you know, she has a really happy marriage to her husband and a healthy, beautiful relationship with her kids. And she just gets it – what’s really important in life. On set, whenever things were stressful she would always be so positive, no matter what was happening.
On Money
In the past, I have invested in stocks and made a significant amount. But when I think about my friends who work on Wall Street I’m like, ‘Oh, man, I have the utmost respect – I could not do what you do.’
