Three genuinely scary Halloween events
Shh! What's that you can hear?! It's the sound of Halloween, slowly creeping up on you. If you think you don't scare easily, we're about to change your mind: we give you three genuinely spooky events for those with strong minds and even stronger stomachs…

The dinner
There’s nothing like surrounding yourself with a crowd of screeching witches, warlocks and werewolves to really work up an appetite. Held in a secret, fittingly spooky location in St Katharine’s Docks, Haunted at The Medieval Banquet is an immersive theatre dining experience that’ll have you hanging out with the ghosts of King Henry VIII, his wives and court staff. Dress up, turn up, and wolf down four courses (blood and brains optional), all washed down with witches brew. Good luck digesting it all when you’re spooked out of your mind, though…

The club night
If you’re up for a hardcore fright festival, hop on a train to Liverpool for techno club night Cocoon. Taking place at former orphanage-cum-abandoned mental health asylum Newsham Park, it’s got all the ingredients of a memorable/terrifying trip. If you still feel like dancing, music comes from the likes of Sven Vath and Booka Shade. Lazy Londoners can also head to the Star of Kings for a raucous night of karaoke, where you’re encouraged to dress as your favourite dead pop star and wail out their tunes, all in the name of good taste.

The experience
Feeling brave? You’ll have to be for this: a three-hour adrenaline-fuelled immersive theatre experience where you’re tasked with taking down an army of blood-thirsty, wild-eyed zombies that have escaped from a nutty German scientist’s lab. As you’re surrounded on all sides by the undead, you and your team will have to embark on a military-style assault course, paintball missions and laser quests in a bid to destroy the enemy. If you come out of this without having shouted out for your mum even once, you’re made of stronger stuff than we are.
