Ah, the summer of 2018.

Perpetual sunshine, England (almost) bringing football home, and the best series of Love Island heating up on TV screens.

Plus we could go outside. Which was nice.

While he didn't win the competition outright – just like England – Jack Fowler has proved to be perhaps the most popular islander of that year's intake.

As well as the inevitable modelling campaigns, Fowler is turning his hand to music with the release of debut single Back To Yours.

Sounds like a good night – even if not fully compliment with the current social distancing guidelines.

Once the clubs are open, expect it to be a regular on the playlists. Until then, you'll have to make do with Spotify and Fowler's lockdown tips.

His ideal isolation companions are both great shouts...

Me...

What upcoming project(s) are you most excited about?

I’m really looking forward to performing and showcasing my new single Back To Yours to people. I’m also looking forward to other projects such as, presenting and DJing.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

My proudest moment has to be releasing music. It’s been something that I have always wanted to do. Also, a stand out moment was playing and winning at Wembley. From a young kid that has always on the dream list.

If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be?

If I could change one thing about my career, it would be to know what I know now from the very beginning. But like any industry, you learn as you progress. So overall, I am very happy with where I’m at.

What do you hope to achieve that you haven’t yet?

I hope to be a successful musician as well as a presenting, both on TV and radio.

I would also like to be able to DJ at a high level. Music is a very important part of my life, and I think all avenues I want to accomplish all have an element of music behind them.

Outside of your family, who is / was your biggest inspiration?

Apart from close friends and family, I look up to successful people from all walks of life.

I look at Will Smith as an inspiration, he’s had an amazing acting career and has been able to tap into music along the way. Watching him from young twenties in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, to what he currently does is inspirational. It's a great insight to how someone who has a talent and is willing to work hard can achieve extraordinary things.

My lockdown

How are you finding lockdown?

Lockdown for me has been a mix of emotions. I find myself sticking to a routine, even though it's a different routine to normal. I’ve been frustrated, excited and overwhelmed.

I’m lucky to have a project that isn’t affected so much by lockdown. Releasing music while everyone is at home and are constantly on their phones, in some ways has helped my debut single.

However it is frustrating that I am unable to go to clubs and shows and perform. But all in good time.

Best thing about lockdown?

Best thing about lockdown is that I am able to reset, refocus and reflect on the last two years.

Life has been 100mph since Love Island, and I haven’t really been able to slow down. But now I am forced to which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Worst thing about lockdown?

Worst thing about lockdown is not being able to enjoy the weather to fullest. As well as not being able to visit friends and family.

Top tip for surviving lockdown?

My top tip for surviving lock down is to ensure you have structure. I wake up, eat and go sleep at set times. Without structure I wouldn't be able to focus on projects that are still ongoing during lockdown.

If you could be locked down with one person, alive or dead, who would it be?

I think I would like to spend lockdown with Drake or Bob Marley! I’m not fussy, but I think it would be a wicked chance to learn and progress when it comes to music.

What are you most looking forward to doing once lockdown is over?

Once lockdown is over, I am going straight to my family home. It's hard to not see my family and friends.

I also miss going to a club, going for dinner and drinks, especially on a hot sunny beach.
