A private garden is one of London’s great luxuries – an amenity even most five-star hotels can’t offer. This is not an issue for Templeton Garden (the name is, admittedly, something of a giveaway).
London’s freshest hotel, Templeton Garden opened just a few months ago, the fourth launch from fledgling lifestyle hotel brand Miiro. Its location just minutes from Earls Court is a huge pull for most of its guests: but you’ll come for the convenience and stay for the garden.
Bordered by giant maple, bamboo and sycamore, it’s the kind of space in which you could imagine Beatrix Potter – long-time Earls Court resident – enjoying afternoon tea under a pergola.
The star attraction is a stunning Japanese pagoda tree (thanks, Google Lens) which provides shade for various areas of seating dotted among exotic Australian tree ferns.
It really is one of the finest gardens in the Royal Borough – and there’s no sharing this one with the local residents.
The vibe

James McDonald

Head inside and you’ll be greeted by some of the most friendly reception staff in the business – alongside an instantly warming and welcoming space. It’s all warm, neutral tones and a library space that makes you wish you had more time to read.
There’s plenty of space to relax and unwind. And one particularly clever addition is the hotel’s signature Refresh Room – a space with a shower, changing room, and charging points, designed for those oft-needed moments before check-in or after check-out.
The rooms
There are 156 rooms here, scaling from bougie to baller. The Junior Suite is a happy medium – with a decadent four-poster bed, garden views and a bath so indulgent that it might just convince you to fill it. If not, the rainshower is excellent – as are the Le Labo wash products. (Le Labo’s Santal 33 might just be the most expensive aroma there is – the distillation of luxury.)
Your type of room isn’t the only choice you need to make; Miiro also uniquely offers three tiers of service.
The Essential – included as standard – is simple and sustainable. No minibar raids or daily cleaning here, but you will get complimentary water on arrival and the aforementioned Le Labo toiletries.
Fancy a bit more? Premium offers a stocked minibar available for purchase (only if you fancy), plus bathrobe, slippers, and daily room cleaning to keep things tidy.
Or you can go all out with aptly entitled The Full Works – daily cleaning, evening turndown, a fully loaded complimentary minibar, and all the premium goodies you’d expect from a proper five-star stay.
The food and drink
Breakfast is an absolute winner here. There’s an a la carte hitlist plus a deftly curated buffet which includes about the best overnight oats this correspondent has enjoyed.
Drinks at Sprout are heavily recommended – at any time of day. And if you’re around for lunch or dinner, Pippin’s is the kind of neighbourhood restaurant that understands the value of nostalgia done well. Think Sunday roasts that merit their position in English folklore, Hereford beef tartare with the right amount of bite, and a Templeton trifle that could convert even the most hardened pudding sceptic.
The dining room opens onto *that* garden where brunch stretches into the afternoon among the blooms in summer, and mulled cocktails arrive with blankets when winter draws in.
Templeton Garden is an oasis of greenery, yes, but also of good taste.
